Happy New Comics Wednesday 5//20/15 - Secret Wars side stories start in a BIG way! Debbie Daughetee Gates of Midnight signing!

Details about a signing we're having today below after the new comics Wednesday teases!

Six new Secret Wars related titles start today! Not to be talking in the hype mode, but these look like a lot of fun and look to be making an already big story even bigger!

 Star Wars! New issue of Optic Nerve! A great new Punisher series that's called Bloodshot (grin) has its second issue release today! A new Wytches!

Second issue of Archie Vs. Predator! This week's Loki is a big tie in issue to what's going on in Secret Wars!

Here's details on our signing we're having with Debbie Daughetee, writer / creator of Gates of Midnight today, May 20th, from 3-6pm!:

We have a new local treasure in Vegas, Debbie Smith Daughetee, the writer / creator of Gates of Midnight, a supernatural thriller featuring Raven Alice Moon, the central character, a former combat medic in Afghanistan, who now finds herself combating creatures from another world! Gates of Midnight has four issues out to date, is entirely created by women, is self published, & Debbie would love to introduce her comic to people who love strong female characters and stories where fantasy & the "real" world intersect! She'll have specially priced introductory copies of Gates of Midnight for sale so we at Alternate Reality Comics, Las Vegas! hope a lot of you will stop by for Debbie Daughetee's first comic store signing (she has done this year's Wondercon & C2E2 in Chicago)!

Happy New Comics Wednesday 5/13/15 - Secret Wars #2, Lantern City, new Ellis title: Injection, Silk, Thor's identity revealed edition!!

 Yes it's just been a week since Secret Wars #1 and ten days since #0, but Marvel is releasing Secret Wars #2 to get the momentum going - this issue really outlines how BIG this story is and gives you more clues on where it's going! You're gonna hate the wait for issue #3, which doesn't come out for three more weeks (so read this issue slowly - grin!)! Saga, Darth Vadar, new Ellis title; Injection!

 Thor is.....! You all stayed away from spoilers, right!?

With issue #6 of Convergence, the DC characters from the new 52 start reacting to what is going on with Tellos and Brainiac! Lantern City looks like a really good steampunk story - wait until you see the interior art! Rebels #2, continuing the story of the American Revolution - great comic!

Happy New Comics Wednesday 4/6/15 - Secret Wars, Afterlife With Archie edition!!

 So Marvel is saying that Secret Wars (of which #1 is out today!) is going to forever change the landscape of the Marvel universe - well having read this first issue, I think they REALLY mean it this time! Seriously, if you read any Marvel Comics, you should check out Secret wars to see how your favorite characters will be affected.

Afterlife With Archie #8, yes it's been a LONG time since #7 came out, but when you read Afterlife #8, you will be a happy camper! I haven't been this excited about a comic series since Alan Moore's Swamp Thing (and I have enjoyed other comics since then, it's just that Afterlife is going to be one of the new barometers of a great comic series!)!

 Ant-Man! Spider-Woman! Second installment of Alan Davis' Ultron Forever!

Looking forward to reading these Convergence mini series because week one had most of my favorites and here's the second concluding chapters of those - with each second issue of the Convergence minis having a new eight page story leading into DC's new June titles!

Big, big, BIG New Comics Wednesday! The late Justice League and Superman #40s have arrived as have the last issues of New Avengers and Avengers right before Secret Wars starts next week! Last Multiversity and last Fantastic Four! Big issue of Silver Surfer!

 And everyone knows that this Saturday, May 2nd is FREE COMIC BOOK DAY, right!? 9am-7pm!

Hope everyone can make the Artist Spotlight Star Wars Opening Reception tonight from 5-8pm!

We're having our annual Artist Spotlight May group show, with this years theme being anything Star Wars related! We still have some spots open for artists, any medium, just needs to be ready to hang (turn in art by Sunday, April 26th at the latest)! All of the artists who have a piece in this group show will be at the opening and they'd love to visit with YOU!

Happy New Comics Wednesday 4/22/15 - Neal Adams (!!) signing 4-7pm, GREAT looking week 3 Convergence titles, Black Vortex Omega, Black Hood edition!!

 THE Neal Adams, legendary artist supreme will be signing today from 4-7pm, come by pick up a print or twelve, and thank him for all the entertainment and great art he's done sine the late 1960s!

 This week's convergence titles look really fun (I wan't that impressed with most of last weeks)!

This morning, before you pick up the fab comics out today and to reward you for completing your taxes (or assist you if you're still frantically finishing them!), TIABI (To Inspire and Be Inspired) Waffle and Coffee (over by Target on Maryland & Flamingo diagonally across from Alternate Reality  Comics) and Grouchy John's Coffee (on Maryland & Wigwam) is serving FREE coffee and a pastry! Grouchy John's is also going to be at our Free Comic Book Day event on Saturday, May 2nd!

Happy New Comics Wednesday - BIG FUN Convergence minis start edition!!

 Okay, Convergence #0 didn't really start with a bang last week, I would have not have had the intro issue to this event just centering on Superman and Brainiac, but by the end of this week's Convergence #1, we see what's going on! And all of the ten first issues of the Convergence minis that came out this week have some entertainment within and all of them address what it's like to be in a domed city! My favorites were Harley Quinn,  Atom, Titans, Justice League, Speed Force, and Batgirl! After you red any of these, I'm confident that you'll be on board with what Convergence is doing!

Deadpool dies!?!?!?! Ant Man! Spider Woman! Check out Rebels for some great American Revolution War story-telling! Walking Dead, Saga, and Jupiter's Circle are also out today! Face it tigers, you've hit the comic book jackpot!
