Happy New Comics Wednesday 10/12/15 - Twilight Children; Hernandez & Cooke!, Walking Dead, Uncanny Avengers #1, Star Trek / Green Lantern, Ms. Marvel edition!

 Vertigo is back! Every week from Oct.-Dec. Vertigo will be releasing 12 new series (some of them are mini series)! I've read several of them via comic store retailer PDFs and I'm here to say that Vertigo is back! A lot of what Image is today would have once been Vertigo series, and for some time, Vertigo looked liked an imprint of DC that wasn't that important to them, well starting with this Twilight Children mini series by Gilbert Hernandez (Love and Rockets) and Darwyn Cook (Parker, New Frontier), Vertigo will be giving Image a run for the best in creator owned titles! Without saying too much about Twilight Children that would spoil its surprises, I would just say if you liked Paper Girls last week, Twilight Children works as a great companion to that series!

Uncanny Avengers with Deadpool was a lot of fun - I never thought I would type / say those words, but if you read this first issue, you'll see that I'm not jiving! Chewbacca was really good too! And the second issue of Brian Haberlin's Faster Than Light really amps up the suspense in this great new sci-fi series (and 32 pages for only $2.99)!

 Not picture her, but two of my favorite comics I read this week were Ms. Marvel and A Force! This issue of Ms. Marvel is a great look at how the cast of this comic deal with the end of the world 9or whatever is going on in Secret Wars) and this last issue of A Force is a great ending to this Secret Wars mini series before it comes back in December with the same creative team!

Batman! Hitch's Justice League of America, and the first issue of Superman: Lois and Clark - really good!

Happy New Comics Wedneday 9/7/15 - Marvel remembers that they publish comics in a BIG way! Special Artist Spotlight Opening Reception featuring Michele Hartsoe - oh yeah, BKV's great new ongoing title, Paper Girls starts!!

 You've loved Saga, you've loved We Stand On Guard, you've loved Y The Last Man, well here's BKV's new title, Paper Girls for you to LOVE! The All New All Different Marvel #1s start today! Yes, they were supposed to come after Secret Wars, but that got late, issue #6 is out today too and it's still good even though it is late (anyway, the new Marvel #1s start 8 months after the last Secret Wars)!

Michele is also making / bringing vegan yummy cupcakes which you can enjoy while you enjoy her art and visit with her from 5-8pm (Wed., Oct. 7th)! Happy New Comics Wednesday 9/2/15 - Neil Gaiman's Miracleman, Deadpool Vs. Thanos, Plutona, Silk, Thors, House of M edition, & what's going on with the September Artist Spotlight!?

 If you haven't read Bendis & Gaydos' Alias (which will be a Netflix show later this year), the first of three new trades is out and is my favorite Bendis series (along with his Daredevil)! Also Neil Gaiman & Mark Buckingham's Miracleman is finally out (after they reprint the ones they did years ago, they are going to finish their run!)!

 Daeadpool Vs. Thanos was a fun time, it takes place before Secret Wars!

We're taking an artist break in September to have this SPECIAL sale (lots of treasures within for great savings - this area will have more displays and books on Wednesday)! And stay tuned for the return of the Artist Spotlight in October, with a local artist that I'm sure will be a favorite with a lot of you!
