Happy New Comics Wednesday - 3/26/14; UBER everyone's favorite comics edition!!

This is one of those the stars are all line up weeks, because if your favorite comic isn't out today, you need to get a new favorite comic (grin)! Seriously though, I'm thinking the only way this week would be even more awesome is if a new Afterlife With Archie and Sex Criminals came out (but new issues of those titles came out within the last two weeks ands they were pretty awesome, right!?)!

Sandman Overture #2 - SOOOOO worth the wait - I think everyone will agree! I want to weep with joy with how beautiful this cover is! Miracleman #4 - more Moore styled advancement of where this realistic approach to a Captain Marvel / Shazam character is going - there's enough ideas in this issue for five "normal" comics! Deadly Class gets really dark and rockets up to being one of the comics I most look forward to! Third issue of Serenity post the television and movie, this is a great way to get a fix of where these characters are! The new Ghost Rider REALLY surprised me - I wasn't too keen when I heard that this was an entirely new character and that he has a car, not a motorcycle, but this was really kinetic and makes me want the next issue right now - great art too! Allred and Slott's Silver Surfer was great fun, with great art, definitely will be another hit for the new Marvel Now!
Survive is the post Cataclysm, next phase for the Ultimate universe and if the new series that are upcoming (like Miles Morales and the All New Ultimates) are anywhere close to as good as Survive was, well the future looks bright for the Ultimate universe! Hawkeye (haven't read it yet, but it's next on my pile)! Lots of Avengers titles, including the two main titles this week!
Deadpool looks like another trippy throwback issue! Real Heroes is Bryan Hitch's first time drawing and writing a series! Besides the first Rat Queens trade, other fantastic graphic novels out this week include a new Catwoman volume by Brubaker and one of my favorite artists, Paul Gulacy, two Batwoman collections, and a Paul Pope art book! Also this week, we have a new Walking Dead, in which we see what happens after last issues climatic scene, a VERY BIG issue of Superior Spider-Man, Flash, Teen Titans, Fables, The Wake, and a new Previews!

How great was Ms. Marvel last week!? Right now my favorite new Marvel titles are: Moon Knight, Loki, Ms. Marvel, Daredevil, Silver Surfer, and Ghost Rider! Hope you all are digging some of the new titles out there!

Happy New Comics Wednesday 3/12/14 - Stray Bullets edition!

Today is a BIG day for people who love crime fiction comics - Stray Bullets is back! David Lapham's seminal series, Stray Bullets, first hit the scene back in 1995 and ran for 40 issues before he disappeared. Well today issue 41 is out concluding the previous story and the massive Stray Bullets Uber Alles edition, collecting all 41 issues - that's just shy of 1200 pages (!!) is also out for a mere $59.99! But wait, there's more: if you've never read Stray Bullets before, Stray Bullets: Killers #1 is also out and it's perfect for long time readers and newbies, really Lapham hasn't missed a beat being gone from Stray Bullets all these years and you newbies will see what all of the excitement is about!

Second issue of the great new Vertigo series, Royals Masters of War, is out as well! We still have first issues, money back guarantee title!
Second issue of Robinson and Kirk's Fantastic Four is out and this has the makings of a really great run (and we also have first issues of this in stock)! Ales Kot (Zero) writes the new Secret Avengers and Captain Marvel is back!
The latest issue of walking Dead is out and you're going to want the next issue right away (fortunately we only have to wait two more weeks)! Black Widow, Mercenary Sea, a new Dorkin & Thompson Beast of Burden one shot, East of West, Coffin Hill, and Justice League of America are just some of the other new titles not pictured that will all probably make pretty good chasers after reading Stray Bullets!

Happy New Comics Wednesday 3/5/14 - waffle / Lisa Dittrich's zombie art opening reception & too many great comics edition!!

Today is a HUGE day in many different ways at Alternate Reality Comics! Beside the numerous (and I mean NUMEROUS!) great new comics out today (some of which are in the photos below, including a great SAD issue of Afterlife With Archie, a great first issue of Moon Knight by Warren Ellis), and what's happening to Nightwing in Forever Evil!?), tonight we have the opening reception (5-8pm) of local artist, Lisa Dittrich's zombie art at our Artist Spotlight! We've had a LOT of great artists at our Artist Spotlight over the years, but wait until you see Lisa's zombies (including a hipster zombie and an Abe Lincoln zombie, one of them is in the last photo here)! Lisa is also a great supporter / help to many local artists here in Vegas (she helps out at Blackbird Studios), so I hope everyone comes out and gives her the love she gives so much of! And in conjunction with tonights event...

...we are having Lisa Dittrich's Artist Spotlight opening reception catered by TIABI Coffee & Waffle House, a new great local waffle restaurant close to my store and besides waffle treats, they also make other deserts (and many of their waffles and treats are also vegan)! These yum samplings as well as wine and other beverages will be complimentary during the opening reception tonight from 5-8pm! So I hope to see a lot of Alternate Reality Comics' friends tonight picking up some great new comics and giving lots of ego strokes to Lisa Dittrich, while visiting with other art / zombie lovers and enjoying some TIABI Coffee & Waffle treats! This is our first zombie art show and we couldn't be happier that Lisa Dittrich is the person doing this!

Lisa Dittrich's They have Risen zombie art Artist Spotlight Opening Reception tonight from 5-8pm, bring everyone alive and undead for what's sure to be a FUN evening of great art and great people!
